IGN had the game for 2 weeks prior to the date where the embargo would be lifted and gave GT5 a 8.5/10
I think 8.5 seems to be the impartial overall score for GT5.
Currently GT5 has a meta of 86 so I think IGN is probably one of the better and more realistic reviews.
I have it on pre-order and had planned to pick it up tomorrow.
I however believe in reading reviews and peoples opinions before I drop money down on something that could possible be not worth it.

Take a look at the scores lately. I am surprised that the 86 meta hasn't gone lower yet. The game is being reviewed as of what it is right now, not next year.

Anytime a game comes out for the 360 and the room fills up with PS3 fanboys about the games reviews, GT5's meta will be thrown in the PS3 fanboys faces until GT6 comes out....which is in about 5 years.
I hope we can all learn something from this. Relax with the HYPE and don't criticize games just because they have lower than expected review scores.

So Alan Wake is now on the same level as GT5? I don't recall Alan Wake being as hyped as GT5 nor was Alan Wake a major franchise flag ship for the 360.

Ya why play Forza and have to drive properly keeping in mind not to damage your car in order to finish the race when you can play GT5 and bumper car your way to the finish line.
Ya real Sim like. Funny, I don't ever see that while watching races being done in the real world. Usually I see when a car hits a wall or another car, there are consequences.

Actually NO, GT5 is not at 87. When I posted that it was at 86 it was at 86, and as of right now, it is still at 86.
Maybe you need to read WHY those scores are better and then you will understand why Forza 3 holds the crown.
Did you think...just maybe for a second, that GT5 ACTUALLY IS an 8/10 game? The average is right now 86 on meta. The industry so far is agreeing that GT5 compared to the other competitors in the market is just an 8 - 8.5 game.
Maybe you should be more upset with yourself for falling into the hype.
So you are nit-picking their review. Take what they say as the word of god if it is positive, but it's clearly nit-picking when they mention the issues that are in GT5 to warrant an 8.5/10.
Seems a little odd that an OPM wouldn't put a numerical number on the review but yet have no problems doing it for the other games. I wonder if Sony marketing had something to do with this after seeing all the negative reviews. It's poor marketing to have your own OPM review the most anticipated PS3 game this gen in a negative manner without lying.

WOW!!! Forza 3 won and they didn't even cover the many type of online races like Cat n Mouse or Tag. They didn't even mention the auction house where you can buy and sell cars, tuning specs or decal designs.
